Parish Council

Next Meeting

The meeting is next Tuesday, 9th September, in the Village Hall commencing at 7.00pm - you will find many of the pre-meeting papers published on the Parish Council website on the Friday prior to the meeting (tomorrow), with the remainder (such as the Clerk's Report) appearing on the day before the meeting (Monday).

Questions

You can either attend the meeting in person, or send questions in advance to the Clerk of the Parish Council. For this meeting, I have submitted a couple of suggestions for debate:

Use of Social Media
I see from ‘The Little Green Book’ that Metheringham Parish Council have adopted social media to try and improve their communication with the public – I would like to put forward a suggestion that Nocton Parish Council carry out a similar trial using Facebook as well.

Village Hall
I note that the last VHMC Agenda and Minutes posted under the ‘Village Hall and Local Groups’ tab on the Parish Council website, are for 18th September 2013 and 5th September 2013 respectively – almost a year since this was updated. However, I see some random ones have appeared in the Parish Council pre-meeting paperwork under the ‘Meetings, Minutes and Agendas’ tab, but there is no consistency and quite a number appear to be missing.

Apart from attending the meetings, I am unsure how local people are able to be kept informed of business. As the body with ‘over-arching’ responsibility for Nocton Village Hall, I would like our local councillors to consider:

  • Whether a more uniform manner of publication can be adopted for VHMC Agendas and Minutes?
  • Whether the backlog of VHMC Agendas and agreed Minutes can be published for the remainder of 2013 and brought up to date for 2014 under the ‘Village Hall and Local Groups’ tab.

District Councillors

You will probably be aware that representatives often attend the Parish Council meeting to give an update and listen to local concerns. Either Councillor Rob Kendrick or Councillor John Money will usually attend and Councillor Marianne Overton MBE will put in an appearance too.

I see that Councillor John Money now contributes to 'The Little Green Book' that is circulated around local villages. An extract from Issue 56 - Autumn 2014 is below:

Nocton Hall
Considering the recent sales statistics relating to the housing market in the East Midlands, and the number of applications we are receiving at Sleaford, if the owners of the old hospital site, Leda Properties, were going to make a planning application, or even make representations to the planning department, one would think it would be now. We have heard nothing, so the Old Hall deteriorates further. Very depressing as the state of impasse continues.

Vattenfall Wind Turbines Nocton Fen
I hear from very informed sources that Vattenfall is having trouble securing a 50 mega watt connection into the National Grid. This has been in the public domain for two months or more so we await the developer's comments with interest.

Central Lincolnshire Local Plan 2011-2036

The new Local Plan to guide the location and development of housing in Nocton and elsewhere will be available for viewing from 1st October. It is important for residents to consider the impact of this report on their local area and submit their observations and comments to guide the plan's ongoing development.
