Village Hall

Leading the Way - Dunston

It is amazing what can be achieved with a proactive, forward-thinking Village Hall Management Committee... with support from a Parish Council.

I have just seen the Dunston Dossier update about the extensive refurbishments planned for Dunston Village Hall... which leaves Nocton somewhat playing catch-up. The four phases of work are scheduled to take place over 2013/14 and 2014/15... demonstrating excellent forward planning skills and application by their team.

Nocton Parish Council have also been working extremely hard over the last year to make progress. However, it has taken the Village Hall Working Party quite some time to agree the content of the new Constitution document, which was finally adopted by the Parish Council at the December meeting, with a few minor amendments to be considered at the January 2014 meeting. This will provide a proper framework and guidance for any new Village Hall Management Committee elected in January 2014.

The work on refurbishing Nocton Village Hall has already started in earnest with external redecoration, new fencing and chairs. A structural report on the concrete floor slab movement has also been considered, with quotes to be tendered for repairs to the Ladies toilets and Social Club stockroom. Funding sources to assist with this work will be explored. In addition a grant will be sought to provide bicycle anchor points outside the Village Hall.

Looking forward to a positive New Year in 2014.
