If you are interested in getting more involved in local village matters, you may like to see the notice below:

"ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
NOCTON VILLAGE HALL
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Annual General Meeting
of the
Nocton Village Hall Management Committee
will be held on 30th January 2013
at 7.30pm
in the Village Hall"

This has been displayed in the Village Hall noticeboard and inside the entrance hall.

As regards the nomination process etc., you may find the following information useful. This has been extracted from the VHMC Constitution document dated 5 October 2006:

AGM
  • An AGM must be held once a year in January.
  • Notification of the AGM must be made public at least one month in advance, by giving notice.
  • Notices must be displayed around the village and include a copy in the entrance to the Village Hall itself.
  • Nominations for all members of the Committee must be submitted to the Secretary not less than one week before the AGM.
  • All Committee members will automatically retire at the end of the AGM; the new Committee will be formed at the first meeting following the AGM. It is permissible for this to occur immediately after the AGM itself.  Committee Officials (Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Bookings Clerk) will all be appointed from the new Committee at that meeting.
  • If more than one nomination is received for any position of Committee Official (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Bookings Clerk), a vote will be taken from all Affiliated and Co-opted Members and the majority will decide.
The current Committee Officials are:

Philip Franklin (Chairperson)
Peter Askew (Vice-Chair)
Doreen Green (Secretary)
Joan Franklin (Treasurer)
Lorna Storr (Bookings Clerk)

The remainder of the Committee is made up of representatives from the Affiliated Groups, plus a Co-opted Village Representative.

Affiliated Committee Members
  • Each affiliated club or society will elect up to two of their current members to serve on the Committee
  • No one individual may represent more than one club or society
  • Two representatives will be nominated from the Parish Council
Co-opted Committee Members
  • Up to six parishioners, not representing any Affiliated club/society, may be elected to the Committee at any one time.
  • If there are more than six Parishioners who wish to be elected then there will be a vote.
  • The six Parishioners receiving the most votes will be invited to join the Committee
